Course Objectives
This course will train students on various 3D printing processes and its process capabilities. It will also demonstrate how to select a 3D printed process for a given application. This course will provide basic understanding of the process parameters and its effects on the part quality outcomes in 3D printing processes. Learners who complete this course will be able to identify a proper technology and process window to successfully complete 3D printing projects.
- Introduce the participants to multiple 3D printing processes – compare the process schematic, the process chain, process capability and the process parameters.
- Introduce the participants to a variety of laser and electron beam-based 3D printing methodologies.
- Introduce the participants to the differentiated 3D printing process chains – supported by hands-on work in process planning in individual processes.
- Introduce participants to 3D printed part qualification.
- Introduce the participants to issues of printing objects of different materials like metal, polymer, ceramic, sand etc.,
For Course Info
Eligibility
- For Indian Participants - Graduates or Diploma Holders (10+2+3) from a recognized university (UGC/AICTE/DEC/AIU/State Government) in any discipline.
- For International Participants - Graduation or equivalent degree from any recognized University or Institution in their respective country.

- Basic understanding of 3D modelling, 2D drawings while not mandatory, will be an added advantage.

The primary method of instruction will be through LIVE lectures that will be delivered online via internet to participant desktops/laptops or classrooms. The lectures will be delivered by eminent academicians and practicing industry experts. The programme will be primarily taught though a combination of lectures, discussions, exercises and labs. All enrolled students will be provided access to our FISST Whizard Cloud Campus through which students may access other learning aids, reference materials, assessments and assignments as appropriate. Throughout the duration of the course, students will have the flexibility to reach out to the Professors, real time during the class or offline via the FISST Whizard Cloud Campus to raise questions and clear their doubts.
There are periodic evaluation components built in as a part of the program. These maybe in the form of a quiz, assignment or other objective/subjective assessments as relevant and applicable to the program. A minimum of 70% attendance to the LIVE lectures, is a prerequisite for the successful completion of this program. Participants who satisfy the attendance criteria and successfully clear the evaluation components will be awarded a certificate of completion.

- Direct writing techniques – ink jet, aerosol, quill and nozzle-based processes. •
- Applications of direct writing in 3D printed wearables.
- Mechanisms of Powder bed fusion
- Materials methods and process parameters
- Process maps, Temperature control and scanning strategies.
- Ultrasonic consolidation process
- Powder-fed and wire-fed processes
- G-code generation and process planning for Direct metal deposition and hybrid processes.
- Building parts thorough binder jetting processes and post processing them
- Cold spray and other welding based deposition processes
- Part quality prediction: inherent strain methods of distortion prediction in PBF
- Strength and surface quality of 3D printed parts.
